Benefits of supplementing with L-glutamine.


L-glutamine is always present in the body in varying amounts.  At certain times, it can be as much as 60% of the total amino acid value.

After intense training, levels of this amino acid are massively depleted.  It makes up 30% of muscle tissue so it makes sense to use this supplement for bodybuilding or other intensive sports which put demands on the body.


Its main use is anti-catabolic (slows down muscle breakdown process).  The muscles are therefore protected from damage. It helps the muscle cell to volumise and is also fantastic for the immune system.


During intense exercise, glycogen is depleted.  L glutamine is one of the major compounds to replace it.


One of the first things ingested L glutamine does is repair the gut lining from damage that can be caused by bodybuilding diets.  Most is used for this purpose so little is left for building muscle.  It also has an effect on gh levels, 2 grams has been shown to raise gh by 100%.


First thing in the morning on an empty stomach and immediately after training are great times for using the compound.
